Eurasian Energy Envoy Morningstar Receives Decoration from Prime Minister
"Visiting Budapest to attend the Visegrád countries’ “V4 Plus” Energy Security Summit, the Secretary of State’s Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy, Richard L. Morningstar, met with Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai for bilateral discussions on February 23. The U.S. delegation also included Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Pamela G. Quanrud.

Following their meeting, Prime Minister Bajnai presented Ambassador Morningstar with the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary for “the outstanding role Richard L. Morningstar played as Special Envoy in strengthening bilateral relations in the field of energy security.”

Expressing his appreciation for the award, Ambassador Morningstar noted that he and the U.S. Government look forward to continuing to work with Hungary, and other countries of the region, in the interest of increasing the diversification of European energy sources and supply routes."
