Budapest Museum Of Fine Arts Expansion Okayed
"As the plans to extend the Museum of Fine Arts have been approved by the National Construction Plan Council, the whole permit acquisition process can be relaunched.

Construction could start in 2011 and the extension open the following year, museum director Tamas Baan announced at a press conference on Wednesday. A total of 8,000m2 additional exhibition floor space will be made with the Ft 4 billion investment.

The original plan of architect Tamas Karacsony received public criticism. Now it has been altered to preserve the original staircase, and not cut a gate into it, while the tower erected on Heroes’ Square in front of the museum will be transparent."
