Hungarian Economic Sentiment Rises To Four-Year High
"The confidence indices of Hungary’s GKI have been rising since May 2009 and the think tank’s economic sentiment and consumer confidence indices rose to a four-year high in May 2010.

In a survey conducted with European Union support, the combined business and consumer confidence index of economic research company GKI rose to -14 points in May from -17.2 points in April. The index was last this high in June 2006 (-13.7%).

The seasonally-adjusted index stood at -25 points in October 2008 and bottomed out at a historical low of -46.2 points in April last year.

The spectacular improvement in the economic outlook is mainly attributable to a jump in the consumer confidence index to -28.7 points in May from -37 points in April. Meanwhile, the business confidence index rose further to -8.8 points from -10.2 points. The consumer confidence index has not been this high since May 2006 (-24.4)."
