'Mahler's Cities' Palace Of Arts, 2 July
"One of the nicest delicacies of classical music can be tasted on 2 July 2010 at 7.30 pm in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall of the Palace of Arts that is organized on the occasion of Mahler’s 150th birthday. MAHLER’S CITIES will be performed by the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra and conducted by Christoph Eschenbach in three cities, in Hamburg, Prague and Budapest.

Due to an international co-operation, on the occasion of Mahler’s 150th birthday thast we celebrate this year as a Joint programme of Hungarofest Nonprofit Ltd. KLASSZ Music Office and Palace of Arts – Budapest, in cooperation with the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the Czech Philharmonic the audience can hear a superb concert of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra conducted by Christoph Eschenbach in „Mahler’s cities”, in Hamburg, Prague and Budapest as all three cities played an important role in the life of the great composer: he was the music director of the Hungarian Opera House in Budapest for three years, the principal conductor of the Hamburg Theater’s orchestra, and conducting a very successful premiere of his Symphony No. 7 in Prague.

On 2 July 2010 at 7.30 pm in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall of the Palace of Arts the audience can listen to his Symphony No.1 in D major, played by the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra and conducted by Christoph Eschenbach, along with Ferenc Erkel’s Overture from his opera Hunyadi László, and Mozart’s Symphony No. 4 in C major, K 338."
