Alstom To Appeal Metro Permit Ruling
"Alstom Transport has appealed the ruling of Hungarian state transport authority NKH, which on July 30 refused to issue operating permits for the Metropolis metro trains that it delivered to Budapest, citing a defective braking system.

The same brakes are now operating in metro trains in Singapore, Shanghai, Barcelona and Istanbul, the French train manufacturer noted.

The braking system meets the most stringent international and EU specifications, but not those of Hungarian national railways company BKV. Cancelling the contract would be illegal, Alstom warned."
