Malév Agrees With Pilots After Strike In Budapest
"Malév pilots reached a new agreement on salaries and work schedules with management after staging a two-hour warning strike on Monday morning.

The pilots union called off plans for an indefinite strike set to begin on Wednesday.

Under the agreement to be signed on Thursday, Malév has withdrawn the 20% wage cut from September 1, said union spokesman Zsolt Ferenczi.

Pilots staged a two-hour warning strike on Monday, and 100 off-duty pilots gathered to protest at Ferihegy airport.

Monday’s brief strike did not affect air traffic, airport operator Budapest Airport announced.

Malév’s 217 pilots earn a monthly Ft 3-4 million, but CEO Martin Gauss is now limited to Ft 2 million, making him the company’s 161st highest earner, Napi Gazdaság observes. His monthly salary was more than Ft 8 million until the spring, when the state took over the airline."
