October 23 Revolution Events In Hungary To Cost A Fortune
"Hungarofest will charge Ft 95.5 million to organise the 1956 state commemorations from October 22 through November 4, government spokesman Anna Nagy told reporters on Tuesday. Parliament will be opened to visitors (on Saturday), films will be screened and drawing contests will be arranged. Official commemorations will start on Friday evening at the University of Technology, whence a procession will march to Bem tér and then Kossuth tér, where the flame of the revolution will be lit. Xpat Note: most shops and businesses will be closed on 23 and 24 throughout Hungary, no riots are expected this year.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will deliver a speech on Kossuth tér at 4.15 p.m. Saturday. Events on Saturday will start with the hoisting of the state flag outside Parliament before day-long commemorations from 10 a.m.

Budapest mayor István Tarlós will address a gathering outside the Magyar Rádió building at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Nagy said.

Nagy confirmed a report by news website Index that a private company will be providing health-care services, as it charges less than the Ambulance Service. However, she would not say which company is involved nor how much it charges."
