Thailand’s Education Sector Is Ready for  Market Expansion
The Thailand International Education Expo 2010 (TIEE 2010) aimed and succeeded in large part to create and strengthen links with education service providers from around the world, including Hungary. TIEE 2010 was opened at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on November 19, with an impressive ceremony chaired by Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Director General of Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce (pictured). The event was also joined by executives and administrators of the event’s co-organizing partners: The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), and the Ministry of Commerce, collaborated with public and private organizations in the education sector to host the event.

In her opening speech, DEP-Director General said: “TIEE 2010 has evolved into a fully-fledged exposition, encompassing the complete range of educational curricula, study programs and numerous facilities, being offered by public and private institutes nationwide. We are also happy to welcome leading educational institutions from overseas.

“This year’s theme, ASEAN’s Hub of Learning, The Heart of Global Network” emphasized the country’s growing importance as the center of international education in this part of the world, she said, adding: “This well-deserved reputation is clearly illustrated by the steady increase in international students’ enrolments. We are proud to say that they are now more than 100,000 Thai and international students from around the globe attending various programs of international study in our country.”

Running until Sunday, November 21, the TIEE 2010 offered information on education services available on all levels as well as the latest innovations in this service sector in more than 200 exhibition booths.

Most beneficial to all service providers were the series of lectures, seminars and workshops which were tailored to enhance their competitiveness and readiness to achieve further growth as well as systematic economic integration within ASEAN, and around the world.

For students and parents, there were discussions, talks and seminars on various topics featuring useful information to help in the decision-making for their future career, or course of study, and about the various educational institutes.

Financial aid and grants were also offered by many academic institutions.

Various companies also offered educational tools, equipment, software, books and toys at special prices.

On stage daily were colorful performances and exciting competitions among students. These included impromptu public speaking contests in English, in which competitors will vie of handsome scholarships, plus karaoke singing contests, student talent shows, and orchestra workshop, among many others.
