Hungarian 99-Year-Old Woman Takes Slovak Citizenship Case To Strasbourg Court
"The family of 99-year-old ethnic Hungarian Mrs. Aladár Tamás is asking the European Court of Human Rights to declare that she was deprived of her Slovak citizenship illegally because she has acquired Hungarian citizenship.

The woman’s daughter, Judit Tamás, who lives in Hungary, said Wednesday that lawyer Zoltán Lomnici Jr., vice president of the youth section of the Council of Human Dignity, undertook to argue her case free of charge.

The elderly Tamás, a resident of Rimavská Sobota, was granted Hungarian citizenship last April in a fast-track procedure in view of her age. A local authority asked her to return her Slovak documents in early December. Her other daughter, 66, who lives with her, is in the same situation."
