Hungary’s EU Commissioner Andor Under Fire
"Socialist vice president Laszlo Kovacs and Fidesz executive vice president Lajos Kosa criticised Hungary’s EU Commissioner Laszlo Andor for attending a conference in Budapest last week instead of taking part in the European Commission meeting which decided that the EU could halt payments of cohesion funds to Hungary next year.

Kovacs remarked that although commissioners do not represent the interests of their country but those of the EU, Andor could have relayed information which the other commissioners may not have known about Hungary.

Kosa said Andor, who was appointed to the Commission by the Bajnai cabinet, has become unworthy of his post.

Andor, the EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, attended a trade union conference hosted by Mszosz yesterday.

On a different note, LMP caucus leader Benedek Javor said it was not Andor’s job to represent Hungary at the meeting."
