Invitation: 'The World Makes Music', Palace Of Arts Budapest, 25 February
"This season of concerts and demonstrations will introduce children to folk music from various regions of the world, and instruments most people have never seen or heard before. The balafon is a xylophone-like instrument from West Africa.

It is played in the same way as the marimba or vibraphone and comprises a row of long, flat hardwood keys strung in a row across a frame.

A hollowed-out calabash is positioned under each key to produce the appropriate notes. It is most often struck with sticks with padded heads.
