LMP Queries Hungary's Fidesz Business Links
"LMP caucus leader Gergely Karácsony spoke before regular business in Parliament yesterday of business groups that have “captured” Hungarian politics, citing the words of the study released by Transparency International last week.

Karácsony said many people who formerly worked with former Fidesz treasurer Lajos Simicska or Zsolt Nyerges, another businessman associated with Fidesz, now hold leading state positions.

The Simicska-Nyerges network of companies has “made a fortune” from government orders, Karácsony alleged.

He specifically named construction concern Közgép, noting that its ownership structure is not transparent, despite the declared Fidesz policy that companies with a non-transparent ownership structure cannot receive state orders.

Közgép was recently in the news for its failure to carry out a promised Ft 500 million capital injection at porcelain maker Zsolnay, which it co-owns with the city of Pécs."
