New Taxes Proposed To Save Budapest Public Transport Company BKV
"A proposal to generate funds for Budapest public transport company BKV would levy taxes on companies under whose land public utility cables run, Népszabadság reports. The Századvég institute also proposed a congestion fee from the second half of next year and a lower VAT on BKV tickets.

The plan envisages collecting Ft 15 billion for the financially struggling BKV from the tax on land. A further Ft 10 billion would be raised from the congestion fee and from the reduction of VAT on BKV tickets and passes.

The Economy Ministry is reportedly opposed to the idea of lowering the VAT."
