Yvette Bozsik Company: Stravinsky Evening, Festival Theatre Budapest, 7 March
"Stravinsky wrote his ballet The Firebird in 1910, taking the miraculous bird of Eastern Slav mythology as its motif. According to the magical Russian folk tale, the firebird has the power to subdue evil demons, singing the spectres of hell to sleep with its lullaby. Les Noces was the first piece in the Evening of Passion premièred in the Hungarian State Opera House. The music and visual design are mirrored in the appearance of the male and female principals, portrayed in an almost impersonal wedding of stylised rituals.

The ballet, which won the Rudolf Lábán Prize in 2009, will be performed by dancers of the Yvette Bozsik Company and the Hungarian National Ballet.
