U.S. Senator Shelby Visited Budapest This Week To Meet PM Orban
"On April 2-5, Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) from the U.S. Senate visited Budapest, Hungary and met with Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi, Central Bank Governor Andras Simor, members of parliament, government officials, private sector representatives from the banking and financial sectors and the American Chamber of Commerce.

Senator Shelby traveled to Europe to hear from officials and those in the private sector on the economy, financial regulation, debt management, and trade.

In Hungary, he discussed the current economic climate in Europe, the effects European developments are having on the Hungarian economy and vice versa, and the political and economic relationship between Hungary and the EU.

The Senator also sought to get a sense of where Hungary stands economically and how it is managing fiscal affairs."
