Basketball Player Sue Wicks Visits Budapest In Support of EuroGames
Former professional WNBA basketball player Sue Wicks visited Budapest to open and attend the 2012 EuroGames, a European-wide LGBT sports competition. Additionally, she spoke to different audiences about sports, leadership and the importance of tolerance.

Sue Wicks and Charge d’ Affairs Timothy Betts participated in the opening ceremony of the EuroGames and delivering the message of being proud of who you are and standing up for LGBT rights as human rights.

Wicks also reflected on her personal and professional journey. After playing professional basketball in Sopron, Hungary fifteen years ago, Sue Wicks was a first round draft pick of the New York Liberty in the U.S. Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was also the first professional female team player to openly come out to the media and the public. Since retiring from basketball Sue Wicks has worked as a university basketball coach and with children to combat obesity and bullying with her organization Fight2BFit.

In addition to the EuroGames events, Sue Wicks hosted a talk on sports leadership and conducted a training session with 30 students from the Grosics Gyula Elementary Sport School. The event was organized in conjunction with, the National Student Sports Association.
