Record Crowd At This Year’s Sound Festival In Hungary
The 6th edition of Heineken Balaton Sound ended on Monday morning after a truly intensive 5 days of non-stop fun. The weather was not always in favor of Central Europe’s biggest beach party, still a total of 108 000 fans visited the event, setting a new record. Heineken Balaton Sound is renowned to be a quality event and lived up to the expectations also this year, in spite of mixed weather conditions.

"The record breaking visitor numbers were especially boosted on Saturday, when a total of 28 000 fans joined the party. On this day the area in front of main stage was fully occupied by a massive audience, enjoying the Paul Kalkbrenner gig” – said Norbert Lobenwein and Zoltan Fulop, main organizers of the event.

This year the biggest headliners of the main stage were star DJs and live acts, clearly proving to be the right direction, as the gigs of Avicii, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and the already mentioned Paul Kalkbrenner were all huge successes. Other venues of the festival also hosted great shows by icons like Martin Solveigh, Carl Cox and Sven Väth.

„All performers agreed on the fact that Heineken Balaton Sound is a world class event and it’s a pleasure to play at our festival. Many of this year’s headliners already asked about possibilities of playing here next year again, so this is surely the best professional feedback we can get… and a good input to start organizing the 2013 event right now” – added the two festival directors.

Besides the huge all-star acts there were many other program features that helped creating the „Sound-feeling”. A great example was the Burn Studios Frame Array venue, presenting a 3-floors high video installation that hosted the DJ stand. Even the performers were amazed by this setup and Animal Collective was partying till down right at this venue, after finishing their gig on another stage.

By now Heineken Balaton Sound counts as one of the most important cultural events of the Lake Balaton region and enjoys an ever-growing interest from foreign countries as well. Hotels and hostels of Zamardi and neighboring towns are fully booked during the festival, so for the non-camper types it makes sense to plan early to find the best possible accommodation. And not just for the 5 days of the event, as many visitors arrive sooner or stay longer to have a few days dedicated to tourism.

But this is surely not a Hungarian farewell for this year, as Sziget – proud winner of the “Best European Major Festival Award” – is right around the corner, starting on 6 August.

See you there!
