Hungary's Statement On The Anniversary Of The September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks
Eleven years ago on this day, one of our closest allies, the United States has been brutally attacked by terrorists, which lead to the death of thousands of innocent civilians in the New York World Trade Center, the Pentagon in Washington, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The anniversary of the tragedy reminds us of the terrible consequences of extremism and intolerance on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the tragic story of the United Airlines flight 93 has become the symbol of human heroism as well.

Hungary takes part in the fight against extremist, militant, and oppressive ideologies. Our nation is present in several places around the globe to promote efforts aimed at building a better and more secure world as well as to eradicate the underlying causes of extremism. As a member of the global community of democratric countries, Hungary is committed to continue working together with her allies and like-minded partners so that the tragedy of 9/11 may never again be repeated.
