Invitation: Sweet Days, Budapest, 20 - 23 September
"In the Mayan records the year 2012 is the last one to be mentioned. This has led people to draw the conclusion that this year will see the end of the world. While we respect the opinion held by many people, instead we are happy that these Mayas discovered cocoa nearly 3,000 years ago and the manufacturing of chocolate. At the beginning only highly ranked priests, monarchs and generals could consume the "Gift of the Gods" but later people could also taste these heavenly flavours."

This year is expected with great excitement - when we have every reason to supplement our happiness hormones -  the second Sweet Days Budapest chocolate and sweets festival is organised in the gorgeous environment of the Castle of Buda just like last year with countless programs and attractions.

Last year's festival proved to be an enormous success both with the professional community and the general public. Based on the preliminary applications and requests and in order to provide even better and more comfortable services to the visitors, this year we will occupy a significantly larger area in the Castle of Buda.

One thing, however, will not change: we will continue to provide venue for only exhibitors manufacturing and selling high quality confectionery at the festival. In 2011 our special guest was Sarah Jane Evans, founder of the London Academy of Chocolate. This year we will welcome Chloé Doutre-Roussel as our special guest, author of the famous book titled The Chocolate Connoisseur, who is also member of the Academy of Chocolate and chocolate expert of Fortnum and Mason, one of the most important London trading houses. The presence of the special guest will make the professional status of the Sweet Days Budapest Festival international so our good reputation and news about the gorgeous venue of the festival can reach everywhere in the world.

Our goal remains to create such a professional event, whose European renown enhances the appreciation and value of Hungarian craftsman's confectionery, as well as the evaluation of the festival itself. On the other hand, the presence of some world-famous brands will increase the high standards of the festival.

Starting from this year, we are inviting a different guest country each year. This year Germany accepted our invitation, partly wishing to advertise their country as a tourist destination and also bringing the products of German chocolate and confectionery manufactures into Hungary.

The first day, which is Thursday, will be the professional day when the exhibitors, traders and professional participants, as well as the media partners and supporters will have the opportunity to get a better knowledge of each others' sweets, establish closer relationship with the press and the media and hold or attend professional lectures. The Association of Hungarian Confectionery Manufacturers celebrates its 20th anniversary on this day. Naturally, we are also expecting the presence of the general public on this important day, entertaining them in the evening with the style of music they enjoyed last year.

Just as during last year's festival, this year's event will also offer programs for families and children during the day, when we will also present such attractions that will only be available at the Sweet Days. Like last year there will also be chocolate and praline courses. We are organising richer gifts and more tasting events for our visitors. We are planning a "Sweet Days" bus service between Clark Adam Square and Dozsa Gyorgy Square. There will be free WiFi service in the area of the festival.

Like last year the evenings will be spent in the ambiance of funky, soul and jazz concerts, accompanied by fine food and drinks. An elegant lounge and cocktail bar will operate in the end of the Savoy Terrace, which offers the best panorama, as well as in the cosy western garden. We are organising a special music concert for Friday evening.

The 2011 festival was extremely successful and we had a very strong presence in all the important media in the weeks preceded the event. This year we will make this even more intensive. Turizmus Zrt. recommends this year's festival as a highlighted event for domestic and foreign visitors.

Last year's festival proved that visitors of the Budapest Sweet Days Festival can expect an excellent company, while they can marvel at one of the most beautiful panoramas in Europe, in addition to indulging in the finest confectionery and drinks.
