Paint Sprayed On US Pilots Memorial In Hungary

The words “murderers and collaborators” were painted on the memorial to American soldiers who died in action in World War II in Szigliget, on the north shore of Lake Balaton on Saturday.
Mayor Balázs Balassa recalled that the armed forces, the county and local councils and other organisations erected the memorial in 2000 in tribute to the five soldiers manning a B24 airplane that was about to bomb German targets in 1944.
The foreign and defence ministries condemned the act of vandalism.
