Switch To Digital TV In Hungary Starts In Barcs
Barcs mayor Ottó Karvalics, CEO András Piller of broadcasting company Antenna Hungária and media and telecoms authority head Annamária Szalai jointly made the switch from analogue TV broadcasting to digital in the Somogy county town on Thursday.

This is the first region in Hungary to make the digital switchover, after completing a pilot program. A similar test was run in Sopron.

Hungary has to switchover to digital television by December 31, 2014.

Families in need will receive help to purchase the necessary equipment for old TV sets, said Szalai. Some 500 families have received a free set-top box, Karvalics noted.
