Benkó Dixieland Band, National Cncert Hall Budapest, 3 May
We have become accustomed to the Benkó Dixieland Band appearing with fresh and surprising new collections of music year after year. At this concert, they will indulge their fans by presenting the influential styles that have permeated traditional New Orleans music with a parade of the most popular tunes through the decades. In what promises to be a genuinely agreeable two hours of listening, hits of the Ragtime and Charleston eras will be followed by the tango interpretations of violinist Vilmos Szabadi, illustrated in unique fashion by dance partners László Budai and Andrea Pirity.

Accordionist Zoltán Orosz gives a taste of the folk music elements to be discovered in swing music, while the group also welcomes guest singers Myrtill Micheller and Tamás Berki.

Greatest hits from the likes of Louis Armstrong and picks from the still vibrant musical heritage of New Orleans, all coupled with the world-class performance of Benkó’s band, are cast-iron guarantees that the evening will be a swinging success.
