Budapest Pálinka Festival, Erzsébet Square, 16 - 19 May
Sour-cherry is in focus at this year's festival, and so pálinkas and other local delicacies made of this fine Hungarian fruit will play a starring role between May 16 - 19. Once again held in downtown Szabadsag square, with over 400 spirits available for tasting from 25 exhibitors. The Pálinka of the Year (a blend of the finest local spirits) will be available for tasting for the first time. Read on for more info about the spirited entertainment in 2013.

Expect a real mixture of musical styles at the Pálinka Festival this year: Sena, Péterfy Bori, Belmondo, Tátrai Guitar Trio and Colorstar are a few of the bands that will rock the main stage.

Actress/singer Péterfy Bori, leading Péterfy Bori & Love Band, is the headliner of the first day of the festival. The perky singer and her band that never hesitates to mix different styles into their music are bound to 'rock your socks off', say the orgainsers.

Belmondo plays Beatles is a project that focuses mainly on the early and the latest, more psychedelic songs of the Beatles performed in a way that it comes through on today’s festival stages. Beat is a familiar territory for Belmondo, for they’ve once defined their music as beat metal. The 25-30 well known songs mashed up with spontaneous jams will surely convince even those that are unfamiliar with Beatles.

Intim Torna Illegál plays friday night following Belmondo. Their motto is: „We will make you move inside and outside”. Different styles like ska, gipsy folk and latino rock melt and blend together similarly to how the elements of blended Sour Cherry Pálinka of the Year make up a unique tasting experience.

Zséda, the headliner on Saturday, has recently made a transition from jazz and swing to a more popular style. Her latest album, Fifth Sense was released last fall, and her latest single is a real invitation to dance.

The big closing act will be Colorstar on Sunday. Electronic beats and world music as well as the unique visuals play an equally important role in their psychedelic pop-rock.
