Wizz Air Hungary Takes Delivery Of Its First Airbus Sharklet Equipped A320
Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has taken delivery of its first A320 aircraft equipped with Sharklet fuel saving wing tip devices, becoming the second Eastern European Airline to do so, after the first delivery went to Wizz Air Ukraine in March 2013. Including this delivery, Wizz Air’s in service fleet rises to 41 A320 Family aircraft and will increase to 43 with further A320 deliveries in the coming weeks.

Sharklets are newly designed wing-tip devices that improve the aircraft’s aerodynamics and significantly cut the airline’s fuel burn and emissions by four per cent on longer sectors. Sharklets are an option on new-build A320 Family aircraft, and offer the airline the flexibility of either adding around 100 nautical miles more range or allowing an increased payload capability of up to 450 kilograms.

On the same day Wizz Air announced its biggest ever Hungarian winter schedule, with 24 routes on sale for this winter. With this the airline offers its Hungarian consumers 23% more flights than in winter 2012.
