Flooding Delays Margaret Island's Open-Air Theatre Opening In Budapest
In accordance with the Local and National Government ordered flood emergency and the evacuation of Margaret Island due to vis major / acts of God, the “superior forces of nature”, the Open-air Stage regretfully announces the cancellation of the following outdoor stage performances in June: Verdi&Wagner 200 - festive opening concert (14 June), Balkan Fanatik (15 June), Freedom Day (19 June), Danube Carnival (21 June).

Tickets can be redeemed or exchanged for other Budapest Summer Festival performances from 6 June until 21 June, at the following two locations:

- Szabad Tér Ticket Office (1065 Bp, Nagymező utca 68., Tel.: +36 (1) 301-0147, jegyiroda@szabater.hu) with extended opening hours: Weekdays 9 am. – 7 pm.

- Városmajor Open-air Box Office (1122 Bp., Városmajor park, Tel.: +36 (1) 375-5922 ext:123) Monday-Friday 1 pm.- 7 pm., Saturday-Sunday 11 am. – 7 pm.

The Freedom Day concert planned for 19th June in collaboration with the Budapest Festival Orchestra will be held at a later date. The Municipality of Budapest and the Szabad Tér Színház will announce the new dates when the emergency situation is over. Tickets purchased for the original date will be valid for the subsequent concert.

According to calculations, it could take up to 20 days for the water levels to recede, which is why the festive season opening of the Margaret Island Open-air Stage is currently scheduled for 28 June, with the ballet, Spartacus.

The theatre extends thanks to the audience for its patience and understanding, and will keep the public updated with any possible changes during this unusual situation.
