Restaurant Review: Víghajós John Bull Pub - Traditional English Pub-Grub In Budapest
The authentic English Victorian style pub/restaurant offers a fabulous atmosphere in the 11th district of Budapest on Budaörsi street. The Víghajós has been welcoming guests since 1990, and every year in May the cosy beer-garden opens up, presenting a huge selection of English beers and barbecue specialities. The garden is also perfectly suitable to hold various events due to its size and the warm, welcoming ambience.

The menu is there to satisfy all needs by serving not only British but also a variety of Hungarian and American dishes including soups, snacks, BBQ, or even meals without meat. The drink list introduces six different kinds of draught beer among them the famous John Bull Ale and Bombardier, which are only available in the John Bull Pubs in Hungary. For whiskey-lovers, there are thirty different types of single malt and blended whiskies or bourbons.

Some example dishes from the menu:

Black Tiger tempura with green salad 3 pieces with your choice of sauce - HUF 1800

Pan-fried onion duck liver – HUF 2 200

Surf and Turf „B”: Eye of round steak 250 gr, Black Tiger tempura 2 pieces – HUF 4300

Deep fried camembert with whortleberry jam - HUF 1500

Apple pie – HUF 600

Creamy rhubarb stuffed pancake with cinnamon sugar – HUF 750

Within the guestbook we can find signatures and comments from names like Andy Vajna, the Alphaville, the Dubliners, and Roger Hauer, who all had something nice to say about the restaurant.
