More Hungarians Working Abroad
The number of Hungarians working abroad for at least six months has risen to 250,000, or 4.4% of the active population, according to a survey by economic research group GKI. The figure has quadrupled in three years from the 60,000 reported in a 2010 study by economic researchers Kopint-Tárki.

A Central Statistics Office report last year estimated the number of Hungarians working abroad at 230,000.

In the latest survey, 9% of households say at least one member is working abroad.

In per capita terms, a higher percentage of residents of the southern and eastern regions of Hungary have moved abroad.

The central and western regions reported fewer people working outside Hungary.
