By We Love Budapest : We can proudly state, that Hungary is a superpower when it comes to outdoor places. The pub crawls, the chilling in the open air, the meeting and talking is the most highlighted program for the locals in Budapest during the summer. Even if you have to work, it feels like you're spending the vacation in a cool city. We sorted out those places that you shouldn't miss if you won't get to the sea this summer.

Könyvtár Klub/Treffort Kert

Könyvtár Klub is quite popular among arts & humanities students, and the place moves to Treffort Kert every spring with chairs, tables, students; what is more, there is even a pizza stand, which fills the warm, summer air with the sell of melted cheese all night long. It is not the most tempting factor about the place, because the agreeable prices (even for students), the special offers, the drinking competitions, the many seats and tables and of course the students, whose boozy mood often produces a cool atmosphere make the Treffort Kert a must-see downtown location.

Address: 1088 Budapest, Múzeum Avenue 4.

Ankert

It is a common delusion to think that every summer starts with riding motorbikes and the arrival of the storks. The real party people know that nothing happens in summer-Budapest until Ankert is opened. This is Anker Klub's twin brother and one of the biggest outdoor place in Budapest with dance floor, cool beach atmosphere, and at least 2-3 people you haven't seen for a while. The explanation is simple: on a busy night everyone visits this place at least one time. You shouldn't miss that either, long summer nights have their history here.

Address: 1062 Budapest, Paulay Ede Street 33.

Majorka

This place proves, that there are cool spots on the Buda side as well, and since Pest is a much more popular location, you will more likely find peaceful atmosphere here.

Only a few steps away from the Szent János Kórház tram stop, and you will find Majorka, which loses its winter dress for the summer and it shows glimpses of its best qualities: the ice cream, the hamburger and the wide range of offers from drinks. All of this lies under huge trees, while birds are chirping. Quite lovely and romantic, isn't it?

Address: 1126, Szilágyi Erzsébet Avenue 16.

Fröccsterasz

If you don't want to be considered as another camper hippy or teenager on Erzsébet tér, but you still want to be part of the downtown nightlife, Fröccsterasz could be your favorite spot. The place between Design Terminál and Közért is used for a noble cause: it becomes an open-air bar with a stage and live music on it. Nomen est omen is not mandatory, you don't have to drink fröccs (mix of wine and fizzy water), but sooner or later Doctor Freud and your subconscious will persuade you to try one. Unfortunately you can't book tables, so come early if you are planning to hang out here, because huge crowd is guaranteed.

Address: 1051 Budapest, Erzsébet Square

Kertem

Since Kertem is located in Városliget, it may take more time to get here, but the surrounding nature, the more peaceful and less hipster mood, the big space, the nice bartenders, the Balkán Burger certainly add many plus points. You can even spend the whole day here without noticing that time just passed by.

The whole experience is like a small beer festival, which was sponsored by a bicycle company, plus you can even try tandem biking.

Address: 1146 Budapest, Olof Palme Avenue 3.

Mika kert

The well-known Mika Tivadar Mulató always moves to the open field among the first contesters to act like a trendy ruin pub in the summer. Their plan always succeeds, because those always come here, who are looking for table football, good company, foreign people, or just a calm evening with a good talk. This is the reason why the place gets filled up quickly. Mika Kert can work as the perfect place to satisfy our hormones on a warm summer night, so we should just drop by, and the next moment we will see: there's no sense leaving this spot.

Address: 1075 Budapest, Kazinczy Street 47.

Fogas Kert

The favorite ruin pub for loads of people is equipped with everything, which is necessary for a cultural place: there's pizza, drinks, art gallery, movie clubs, theatre performances, exhibitions and workshops. Since 2010 we get to enjoy all of this in the garden as well, and while Fogas Kert seems to be a different place, it is basically the same: it has a long bar, drinks, music, a screen and many familiar faces.

Address: 1073 Budapest, Akácfa Street 51.

Kobuci Kert

Kobuci means a Hungarian food: a bun with sausage filled with garlic sauce, tomato rings and pickles, and it has a bar in Budapest, so it's basically the most successful meal ever. The first reason for it that according to the rumor it is delicious; the second reason is that it became so popular in 2005 at the Művészetek Völgye in Kapolcs, they decided to give their luck a try in Budapest as well. Success story. But the luck is ours too, because it is nice to sit down in the garden of the Zichy-kastély to have a drink or grab a bite in more like a regular pub, than a ruin pub.

Address: 1033 Budapest, Fő Square 1.

Grandio Party Hostel

Imagine that suddenly you are at a random American house party, where you don't know anyone, but it turns around by the end of the night. Well, this is Grandio Party Hostel. In this magical garden life doesn't stop for a second, sometimes it feels like nobody sleeps here a second, and everyone is ready for another shot. Anything can happen: having a few beers, then suddenly we are sitting in the room, having a serious conversation about life, or we find a lifelong friend, which becomes really useful, when we are backpacking around Europe.

Address: 1072 Budapest, Nagy Diófa utca 8.

Wndrlnd

The newest garden in town feels like a funfair in somewhere Narnia, only we don't need any professor's wardrobe if we want to have a drink, just head straight to Margitsziget. The place will be open for 20 weeks, but every week a different artist will come in and rearrange the design of Wndrlnd. It could be a real wonderland for the lovers of artistic circumstances, or for those who seek unusual solutions.

Address: 1131 Budapest, Margitsziget
