Hungary’s President Áder Selects Székely For Ombudsman
President János Áder has nominated lawyer and university professor László Székely, 55, to the post of civil rights ombudsman, he announced yesterday. Székely has taught at the faculty of law at Eötvös Loránd University since 1982. He became a legal expert with Fidesz’s environmental section in 1992.

During the first Orbán cabinet, Székely was government commissioner for overseeing tasks mandated by the Hague International Court ruling on Hungary’s dispute with Slovakia over the Nagymaros hydropower project on the Danube.

On June 15, 2010 Székely was appointed ministerial commissioner for co-ordinating the drafting of a new civil code.
