A Little Taste Of Mauritius In Budapest
The luxurious and elegant Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest was set to host the unique Mauritius event on Wednesday, September 11, where guests not only could enjoy the divine relishes of Creole cuisine, but also had the chance to find out more about the magical island itself as well as its touristic aspects from local professionals.

The evening began with the warm welcome speech by the organizer Mr. Attila Toth the GM of Aviareps Budapest, which is the world’s leading tourism and airline sales and marketing company. Mr. Toth gave a pleasant introduction of the guest speakers and highlighted the touristic advantages of the tropical island.

Vijaye Haulder Deputy Director of Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority described Mauritius as one of the safest dreamy paradise islands that has all the requisite features to make one’s stay unforgettable. To prove this statement he presented a number of slideshows, which showed that this tiny island marooned in the middle of the Indian Ocean has a lot more to offer besides sun, sand, and sea.

With a population of 1.3 million, people have come from different parts of the world to inhabit and shape this multi-faceted peninsula. Travelling around one will discover the diverse cultural traditions from Africa, Britain, China, France and India, taking the best bits out of each. Mr. Haulder also emphasized the fact that although Mauritius is commonly known as a luxury destination, cosy budget apartments are also available for guests.

Mr. Haudler’s introduction was followed by the catching speeches and presentations of the region’s most important tourism representatives: Saheed Eyasim from MARITIM Hotel Mauritius, Sandra Ober from Beachcomber Hotels, Linda Boodhna from Emotions Destination Management, Peter Schmidt from Sun Resorts Ltd., Zahir Moossa from Luxe Voyage Ltd., Johann Petrow from Shanti Maurice, and Clency Noyaux from PromoTour.

An exciting raffle game and a delicious traditional dinner buffet closed the event with the harmonious blends of Indian, Chinese and Creole cuisines.

After having seen the numerous pictures and presentations and having tasted the exotic food, we might as well agree with Mark Twain’s famous quote about the island that: “Mauritius was made first and then heaven; and heaven was copied after Mauritius."
