Invitation: Handmade Hungarian Flavors Festival, Millenáris Budapest, 8 - 10 Nov
Handmade Hungarian Flavors Festival is a food fair and festival with lots of good, handmade foods and drinks, and nice concerts. The festival takes place in the Millenaris Park cultural complex on the Buda side of Budapest, between 16 - 18 November.

Handmade Hungarian Foods & Drinks Fair is a very nice gastronomy festival / food fair with loads of flavoursome Hungarian foods and drinks, concerts and fun shows (you can see some food events like oil pressing, sausage filling, get fresh honey right from the hive, baking walnut beigli, the traditional Hungarian Christmas cake (bejgli).

The motto of the event, e.g. in November 2012 edition was “11 Regions, 120 Exhibitors, 5,000 Flavours” The focus of this autumn event in mid Nov is on Hungarian new wines (Hungarian Beaujolais), and the popular local pork delicacies: blood pudding and liver pudding (veres hurka and majas hurka, respectively), as well as Hungarian sausages. Many meat lovers feel Budapest a meat heaven, but vegetarians should not despair either, there will be excellent cheeses, pickles, jams, etc.

Some of the gourmet foods you can try at the Handmade Hungarian Delicacies Fair:

Hungarian sausage with plum jam,
Hungarian sausage with mustard mixed with quince soaked in white wine,
Hungarian chocolate with Hungarian paprika from Kalocsa

The venue is the best cultural complex, the Millenaris Park on the Buda side of Budapest, which is a 15 min walk downhill from the Buda Castle on the picturesque Castle Hill.

You can also talk to the makers, producers personally. Some of the exhibitors will come from the Hungarian villages in Transylvania, Romania.
Besides the many foods and drinks for tasting and buying, you can also enjoy some nice concerts and shows.
The official name of the culinary fair is (Kezmuves Magyar Izek Vasara (translated by the organisers as Handmade Hungarian Tastes Market), this will be the fourth festival in the last two years, with lots of visitors.
As for the entrance tickets to the Handmade Hungarian Taste Fair: the ticket holder will be invited by the organizer of the Fair to taste the new wine of 2012 and a welcome snack of sausage or chitterlings.
With the one-day ticket a coupon worth of HUF 2,000 is given, that can be used in the shop of the Handmade Hungarian Tastes (Budapest, 3.district, Szőlőkert u. 4/b), before February 28, 2013, if the value of the purchase exceeds HUF 5,000.

Children under 12 are admitted free. There is a playing corner for kids at the fair: with crafts and other kid friendly hands on activities, story telling and many many toys. Opening hours of the children’s corner: Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
There are no discounted tickets available for students or for retired people.

November is here, the season of fresh sausage and chitterlings, but if you do not want to wait for these mouthwatering Hungarian specialties, you must visit the 4th Handmade Hungarian Tastes Fair. Visitors will have the chance to taste more than 100 different flavored chitterlings, sausages, salamis and 30 different types of new wines between November 16 and 18, in Building B of the Millenaris Park in Budapest.

The Fair offers for tasting unique flavors such as the country sausage seasoned with rosemary, black pudding stuffed with dried plums, Bacska liverwurst made with grits or duck and goose sausages. Besides the novelties 120 Hungarian manufacturers shall expose so far unknown specialties of honeys, marmalades, fruits syrups, hams, cheeses, fruit spirits (Pálinka), spices and dairy products of the usual high standard and quality of the fair.

In addition to the jewels of the traditional Hungarian cuisine, entertainment will be offered: visitors can choose a program they prefer from the colorful selection while tasting the products. The organizers will not forget about the families attending the fair this year either: during the day the Alma Band (Saturday) and the Kolompos Band (Sunday) will be playing music for the children, while in the evening Balkán Fanatik Band (Friday) will assure the good atmosphere with a concert for adults. Besides the concerts there will be different programs on stage: making Santa-Claus shaped chocolate, extracting honey, preparing winter ice cream, and also a variety of professional discussions.

With the entrance ticket everyone will be invited to taste the new wine of 2012 as the first messenger of this year’s vintage and a welcome snack of sausage or chitterlings. Children under 12 are admitted free.
