Visitor Terrace At Budapest Airport To Remain Open During The Winter
Budapest Airport has decided to keep the recently renovated and reopened visitor terrace on the roof of Terminal 2A open during the winter as well. In view of the winter weather, the terrace will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day during this period. The facility is very popular with visitors to the airport as it allows a glimpse into the life of the airport, the arrival and departure of aircraft and ground handling activities. Should the safety of visitors be jeopardized due to intense snowfall or ice, Budapest Airport may suspend the operation of the terrace.

Budapest Airport renovated and reopened the observation terrace located on the roof of Terminal 2A during the summer of 2013. The facility is available with tickets priced 400 HUF, and has been fitted with new flooring and disabled access, as well as a 3-meter tall steel railings and security glass, as required by EU regulations. A buffet is operational on the terrace during the spring and summer period.

More than 30 000 visitors have used the terrace since its opening. “We were surprised but happy to see that so many people are interested in the life of Budapest Airport and the aircraft landing here,” said Manel Moreno, head of landside services for Budapest Airport, who is responsible for the operation of the terrace. “It is precisely due to the huge interest, the hundreds of visitors per day that we decided to keep the terrace open, whenever the weather allows. I am certain that once the morning mist clears up, many people will brave the cold weather during the winter to get a glimpse into the bustling, ever-changing life of the airport from the best possible location,” he added.
