Britannica Int School Budapest Students’ Duke of Edinburgh International Award Charity Project
Duke of Edinburgh International Award students in Britannica International School have successfully completed their Christmas Stars charity project, into which they have been putting a lot of effort and determination in the past few weeks. Britannica International School is a licensed centre in Hungary for the world famous International Award for Young People, better known to expats as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The Award is a rewarding self–development programme, that enables young people to learn practical and special skills that are valuable to their future life and careers.

Available at the familiar three levels Bronze, Silver and Gold participants must complete activities of Community Service, Skills, Physical Recreation and the notorious “Adventurous Journey” which can mean a climb up a mountain or a trek across a desert. “

As part of the programme’s community service section a group of Britannica students travelled to two villages in the North-East of Hungary (one of the poorest areas of the country) to deliver the 150 Christmas gifts they had collected for the children in need.

Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme coordinators the students visited a day care home where they sang Christmas songs and did some entertaining arts and crafts activities with the children.

Taking part in the Award offers young people formal recognition for their achievements and is seen by many educational institutions and employers as a valuable development programme that equips young people with practical and social skills.
