Details Of US Eavesdropping On Hungary To Remain Secret
The list of Hungarians who were or may have been under surveillance in Hungary during secret eavesdropping by the US will be classified as a state secret, Interior Minister Sándor Pintér announced on Thursday as a parliamentary committee formed to investigate the matter held its first meeting.

What was said at the meeting will also remain secret, the committee’s Fidesz chairman Máté Kocsis told reporters.

Prime Minister’s Office leader János Lázár said after the meeting that the eavesdropping scandal could significantly affect relations between the US and Hungary until the US clarifies the case. He stressed that the incoming American ambassador will have to appear before the committee.

Pintér told reporters that they are continuously in contact with relevant US bodies, including the FBI and the CIA.
