E-Trade On The Rise, More Spent On Clothes, Fuel In Hungary
Last year, Hungarians made more internet purchases and they spent more money on clothes and fuel, national trade association OKSZ told MTI on Wednesday. The association referred to official statistics and said that Hungarians had spent a total 8,425 billion forints on purchases in 2013, 176 billion forints more than a year earlier.

While the total growth was only about 1%, purchases made online were up by 35-40%, and the growth in clothes purchases was 8-9% in the second half of the year, OKSZ said.

Spending on food did not increase significantly in 2013, while people spent 3.6% more on industrial products in the last quarter and 4.7% and 4.5% more, respectively, on fuels in the second and fourth quarters.

Online purchases, including foreign web shops, made up 3-4% of the total household purchases. OKSZ expects domestic consumption to grow between 1.5- 2% this year.
