Croatian Law Changes Gives Hungary’s MOL Chief Another Chance To Appeal
Amendments to Croatian legislation have given Zsolt Hernádi, chairman and chief executive of Hungarian oil and gas company MOL, another chance to appeal to local courts regarding a graft investigation, Croatian news agency HINA said.

Croatia’s anti-graft authority said late Monday that amendments to the relevant legislation were the reason why the previous arrest warrant which Croatian issued for Hernádi should be replaced by “a new decision” on conducting the investigation and Hernádi was now entitled to appeal such decision.

Hernádi’s name was included on Interpol’s wanted persons list after Croatian police issued a warrant for his arrest last autumn on suspicion he bribed former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to give MOL management rights in Croatian peer INA.

Hungarian news portal hvg.hu said on Monday that his name was no longer on the list. Interpol told MTI that Hernádi’s case was under review by the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files (CCF). During the review, CCF may propose measures such as blocking related information in Interpol’s database.

Once the review is over, the commission will decide whether it erases, reinstitutes or amends the data included in Interpol’s database.
