New Hungarian Parliament To Hold Sessions Until July
Hungary’s new parliament is likely to sit for sessions well into the summer, Gergely Gulyás, a Fidesz lawmaker, said. The founding session of the new 199-seat parliament will be held on May 6 and weekly sessions could last through July, Gulyás told public television. He said a new parliamentary committee for legislation will be set up with 39 members, larger than the other committees.

Gulyás declined to answer whether he would be tasked with heading the committee, but said its head would also be the deputy parliamentary speaker in charge of legislation. Fidesz will form its parliamentary group with 117 members in the new parliament, while the allied Christian Democrats (KDNP) will be represented by 16 lawmakers.

Members of the opposition Unity alliance will sit in separate groups including the Socialists (29), E-PM (4), Democratic Coalition (4), and the Liberal Party (1) seats. Radical nationalist Jobbik will  have 23 and green LMP 5 deputies.
