Foreign Tour Groups On The Wane In Hungary
Hungarian tourism is growing rapidly but most foreign tourists arrive independently so travel agencies that mainly cater to foreign tour groups are not generally cashing in on the boom, business daily Világgazdaság said. Out of a total of 1,200 Hungarian travel agencies, around 100 focus on inbound travellers, the paper said.

But the trend for online booking and the bankruptcy of national flag-carrier Malév have taken their toll: people on package holidays tend to spend more but they prefer traditional airlines to low-cost airlines.

According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), 727,000 organised trippers arrived in Hungary in 2012, accounting for 31 billion forints of the total 197 billion forint net income of Hungarian travel agencies.
