Hungarians Live Longer But In Worse Shape
Life expectancy at birth in Hungary has increased by 2.7 years during the past decade, similarly to the rest of the European Union, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). But both children and adults are in a worse physical condition, and the health-care system is more and more overburdened.

According to the report, Hungarians born in 2012 could expect to live 75 years on average - men 71, women 79 - a year longer than people in Lithuania and Latvia, but seven years shorter than the Spanish, the longest-lived people in the European Union.

Hungary’s health-care spending is half of the OECD average, putting it 29th place in a list of 34 countries, according to the report.
