Hungary's Fidesz Caucus Leader Rogán Dismisses Opposition To Ad Tax
Opposition to the planned tax on advertising is similar to the opposition to the bank tax when that was first introduced, Fidesz caucus leader Antal Rogán told reporters on Thursday. Fidesz is initiating that the bill be debated by Parliament on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Regarding the widespread opposition to the tax, Rogán said ”we are listening to these arguments with respect, but let me note that the situation bears a striking resemblance to that when we introduced the bank tax; the banks used the same arguments”.

He described the protest against the tax by dozens of media outlets as “blackmail of political actors”, and said it will not be taken into account.
