Jobless Rate In Hungary Down To 8%
The jobless rate fell to 8% in the March-May period, down from 10.5% in the same period of last year, the Central Statistics Office announced on Friday. The number of unemployed fell 104,000 on an annual basis. The jobless rate in the 15-24 age group fell furthest, from 27% to 19.4%.

The average time spent looking for work was 19.6 months, as 52.5% of the unemployed had been seeking work for 12 months or more.

The number of employed averaged 4,105,000, an increase of 195,000 from the same period of 2013. Public works programmes accounted for 100,000-120,000 of this increase, in line with the previous months, an indication that job creation in the private sector is taking off at a slower pace, Napi Gazdaság observes.
