Nations Come Together To Worship At International Baptist Church Of Budapest
The International Baptist Church of Budapest (IBCB) is one of the many international churches in the city. It was founded in 1991 to serve the English-speaking community here in Hungary. Over 20 nations are represented at the church on most Sundays. Services start every Sunday at 10:30 am. You are welcome to participate in the coffee fellowship from 10:00 am where you can meet new friends.

The church’s address is 1027 Budapest Törökvész Út 48/54.

In an interview with Pastor Rusty Ridgeway, he had this to say:

1. How would you describe IBCB?

IBCB is an international church with more than 20 nations represented on most Sunday mornings. To the English-speaking community we proclaim Jesus’ love of the whole world. Additionally we hope that our actions are loud enough that those not speaking English will identify our lives in Christ.

2. What are the strength and weakness of IBCB?

Our strengths are that we find a great sense of community despite all of our different nationalities. We have been thrust into a new culture and find comfort in being outsiders together. As believers we are all outsiders in ‘this world’ because we are citizens of heaven even now. We offer a variety of programmes for all ages which help both children and adults to fit in easily. We also have a very talented worship team providing high quality worship music each Sunday morning.

Our weakness is that many of our congregations are only in Budapest for 2 or 3 years. This makes for a very high turnover rate; we are regularly saying goodbye to someone.

3. Why should people attend IBCB?

People should attend IBCB because it is a friendly atmosphere that truly seeks to serve Jesus in everything it does. People may not always find countrymen but they will find friends. The first and most important reason to attend IBCB is because we love Jesus and visitors do as well. The second reason is that we speak English like most of our visitors.

It is a church filled with love towards each other and most importantly people from different nations that try to see and love Jesus in everything they do.
