CEU Business School Budapest Launches Global Entrepreneurship Fellows Program
Budapest, Hungary: In 2012, the rate of venture capital investment as a percentage of GDP was the highest in Hungary among EU member states -- at almost 7 tenths of a percent. To put that in perspective, that represents more than three times the EU average. And yet the region’s high-growth, high-potential startups and other entrepreneurial SMEs continue to struggle.

“In today’s interconnected and intensely competitive world, entrepreneurial success requires more than just great ideas and total commitment; just as important is the need to scale and find large markets,” commented Mel Horwitch, Dean of CEU Business School. “For innovative countries with limited or small markets, scaling means transcending borders and building organizations abroad.”

Which is why CEU Business School, in partnership with Government and leading industry participants, is pleased to announce its new Global Entrepreneurship Fellows Program. This is an initiative to help proven entrepreneurs – those individuals who already have launched a viable startup, built a product or service, and attracted funding – to "go global."

The Global Entrepreneurship Fellows Program provides high-potential entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and outlook necessary to identify, create, and manage expanding entrepreneurial opportunities on a global basis.

“This isn’t about how to start a startup; it’s about how to hit scale and be globally competitive – whether you are from Boston or Budapest, Bangalore or Bucharest,” remarked Chris Farkas, CEU Business School Venture Capitalist in Residence. “This program leverages the existing investment in the Region’s finest entrepreneurs in the hope of helping create a vibrant entrepreneurial economy in Hungary and beyond.”

Over three months and consecutive Wednesday afternoons and early evenings, Global Entrepreneurship Fellows meet in Budapest, and once in London, to discuss, absorb, and apply the latest thinking and best practices related to global entrepreneurship with leading professionals, practitioners, and thinkers from around the World.
