Plans For Ft 100bn Puskás Ferenc Stadium In Budapest Unveiled
“Reconstruction of the Puskás Ferenc Stadium is a national cause. It is of symbolic significance, and its wide-ranging social and economic impacts are extremely positive”, Development Minister Miklós Seszták declared yesterday as the plans for the new facility were presented.

The new 68,000-seat stadium on the site of the present Puskás Ferenc Stadium – the former Népstadion – will cost Ft 90-100 billion in state and EU funds.

The new facility will have an 180-room hotel, a conference centre, an office building, a sports museum, a diagnostics laboratory, shops and restaurants, a panorama running track, a gym and even a police station.

It will be exactly as high as the current stadium, at 53 metres. The Népstadion was opened in 1953.
