Fewer Foreign Tourists In Hungary In July
The number of guest nights spent in commercial accommodation in Hungary rose by an annual 2.6% in July to 3.6 million, the Central Statistics Office announced yesterday.

The number of guest nights by foreign visitors dropped 0.7% to 1.6 million, despite several high-profile events in that month, such as the European water polo championship and the Formula One race, Napi Gazdaság adds.

Despite that falling off, spending by foreign guests was up 8.6% to Ft 12.4 billion.

Offsetting the decline, the number of guest nights spent by Hungarians increased by 5.5% to 2.0 million. These internal tourists spent Ft 10.2 billion on accommodation in the month of July.

In the first seven months 5.25 million guests spent 13.4 million nights at Hungarian hotels, which is a record, the Economy Ministry highlighted.
