Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Exceeded By Hungary
Hungary’s performance in cutting greenhouse gas emissions has been outstanding in international and EU comparison, and the country has exceeded its original goals, business daily Napi Gazdaság said, citing information from the development ministry.

Greenhouse gas emission in 2012 was 36% less than in 1990 and 46% less than in 1985-87.

In the Kyoto protocol Hungary undertook the obligation to reduce emission by 6% by 2012.

For the period until 2020, the EU and Hungarian target of 20% cut was also exceeded by 2012.

Experts say Hungary has made good progress in achieving its target of generating 14.65% of electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

The ratio was already 9.6% in 2012 which means that Hungary outperformed the pro rata target.
