September Prices Down 0.5% In Hungary
The Central Statistics Office on Friday reported year-on-year deflation of 0.5% in September, below analysts’ expectations of a 0.3% drop. Core inflation, which excludes energy and food prices, was up 1.4% year-on-year but down 0.1% month-on-month.

For the first nine months, consumer prices decreased 0.1%, year-on-year.

The significant decline in prices is explained in part by the large tobacco price increase and the introduction of the financial transaction fee in September of last year, said analyst Zoltán Réczey of Buda-Cash brokers.
