Hungarian PMO Undersecretary Csepreghy Accuses Norway Of Blackmail
Norway’s refusal to resume the transfer of funds to the Hungarian government amounts to blackmail, PMO undersecretary Nándor Csepreghy told Magyar Hírlap in an interview. Norway ended the transfer of funds on May 9 under the Norway Grant programme after the government unilaterally changed the administrative procedures, but continued to transfer money to Hungarian NGOs.

In response, the government accused the NGOs of political bias, and has raided some of their offices.

Csepreghy noted that Norway would transfer Ft 36 billion to the state if the government stopped harassing the Ökotárs Foundation.

However he declared, the government “will not surrender to pressure from the Norwegian ambassador”.

He said the Norwegian Fund involves public funds, therefore not only left-wing organisations are entitled to them.
