UK Embassy Budapest Highlights EU Red Tape
The British embassy in Budapest drew attention to EU bureaucracy with a symbolic labyrinth called “BurEUcratia” set up on downtown Erzsébet tér on Thursday.

The installation was unveiled by ambassador Jonathan Knott and Economy Ministry state secretary for regulation Béla Glattfelder.

Its purpose is to present the harmful effects of excessive EU regulations on SMEs and to show that it is possible to improve the situation through co-operation.

The ambassador said murky or incomprehensible EU regulations may cost Europe millions of euros annually in lost output, while the number of jobs and companies never founded may be in the thousands.
