US Charge D’affaires In Hungary To Get Invite To Hearing On Entry Ban
Parliament’s national security committee plans to invite US charge d’affaires André Goodfriend to a hearing on the US entry ban affecting certain Hungarian citizens, the deputy head of the committee said after a meeting of the body.

Szilárd Németh, of the ruling Fidesz party, said that committee chairman Zsolt Molnár, of the opposition Socialists, would contact Goodfriend in line with the diplomatic protocol, and invite him to next week’s committee meeting.

At Wednesday’s meeting held behind closed doors, interior ministry state secretary László Tasnády and officials of the National Security Service and the tax office NAV briefed the committee.

NAV leader Ildikó Vida was also invited to the meeting, but she failed to attend. NAV deputy leader Árpád Varga declined to comment, but he denied being on the US blacklist.

Opposition parties have called on Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to immediately replace tax office (NAV) officials affected by the US entry ban.
